Welsh potter, Rhian Jones, hand builds statement sized ceramic vessels with gold gilding. Her large scale elegant ceramics draw inspiration from ancient Egyptian burial rites; tall vessels sit on a slim and elegant foot before sweeping upwards to a large, lipped aperture. She also references traditional tribal African ceramic art in the form of round bellied pots. Since graduating with her ceramics degree in 2015 she has been perfecting ancient techniques of her unique craft.

The larger round vessels almost always crack from the stresses of the rapid temperature changes of the open fire. In response to this, the pieces are reassembled and gilded with gold. The Eastern technique, Kintsukuroi is the art of repairing broken pottery with gold, with the understanding that the piece is more beautiful having been broken.
